I’m Michaël Pilote,

An author and illustrator creating beautiful stories that spark love, joy, and imagination.

My work lives at the intersection of storytelling, illustration, and gentle observation. I create children’s books, illustrated books about place, and short animated stories—each project shaped by character, warmth, and a sense of quiet wonder.

I believe stories matter most when they are made with care. Whether through a picture book, an animated character, or an illustrated city, my goal is always the same: to create work that feels thoughtful, sincere, and human.

Alongside books, I enjoy exploring animation as a way to give characters movement and emotion, and photography as a way to capture the soul of places. These mediums support my storytelling, but the heart of my work always begins with story.

I’m based in Canada and work independently, writing, illustrating, and developing my projects with a long-term view—favoring depth, craftsmanship, and meaning over speed.
